As you all Know Connie Evans became the new OHSNA president and its office location moved to Queensviile, Ontario. Much of the last few months were spent organizing the move and and things are now running smoothly.
In July of this year Connie and Vice-President Joe Pollard visited Nova Scotia, Halifax to review their five levels of assessments model and tour homes. They gathered a lot of valuable information in preparation for their letter and meeting with government.
In August Connie spent many hours preparing a very convincing, fact based research and discussion paper on the need for increased funding and moving towards an assessment program like that of Nova Scotia. The paper was received very well and gave our government a lot to think about moving forward.
In June and September Connie represented OHSNA in meetings with Janet Hope,‎Assistant Deputy Minister, Housing at Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Bell. Both meetings were very successful and the fight for both clients’ and homes’ needs is ongoing. The Board of Directors also had their first official meeting with 17 members in attendance and discussed what the future holds for the OHSNA, and will be followed up with regional meetings as well this month. As you can see the new OHSNA website is up and running and we will continue with transparency and increased communication so our members are informed and part of the process.
